Two new school board members sworn in

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Two new school board members were sworn in for Districts four and six.

During tonight's school board meeting, Melissa Strother was sworn in and will serve District 4.

Dean Phinazee was also sworn in, and will be serving District Six. Family and friends were there to show their support.

Both Strother and Phinazee say they're excited to serve on the school board.

Strother says she wants to focus on reducing classroom size, and Phinazee wants to work on a Career Academy.

"I just keep going back to classroom size. I feel like every single issue in the system goes back to that. And that its strictly a financial issue, and I have some creative ideas," says Melissa Strother, who serves District Four.

"It was turned down before but we want to tweak it a little bit, work out the problems, and bring it back before the board," says Dean Phinazee, who serves District Six.

Both thanked the voters for their support.
