Valdosta State University was investigating Monday after two students were robbed at gunpoint outside a residence hall.

The robbery happened just after 9 p.m. Saturday outside Centennial Hall on Sustella Avenue.

Monday, the university would not release the names of the students who were robbed. The students were moving in when a black man ran up to them, showed a gun, and demanded everything they had.

VSU Communication Director Thressea Boyd said students need to always be aware. "Be aware of their surroundings. Also, place VSU's police [in] their favorites in their phone and use the police escort service that's provided if they're goin' across campus," Boyd said.

No one was hurt, but the suspect got away with a wallet and cell phone.

Valdosta city police are also investigating.
