“I matter movement” promotes peace and unity

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - On Saturday afternoon, law enforcers, and community leaders gathered to talk with youth, and have fellowship at New Macedonia Baptist Church.

Its all part of the "I Matter Movement" put on by Pastor Nishikki Green, who says she wants young people to know they're important, and there's people in the community to support them.

She wants to promote peace, keep kids off the streets, and away from violence.

Its to help our youth to understand that they matter. Not to feeling like gangs is the reason they have to do the things they do. To be protected. We have the people here in our city to protect them and we also have leaders here to help our youth,” says pastor Nishikki Green.

Albany Police and the Dougherty County Sheriff's office, as well as members of the NAACP attended the event.
