ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany mother is upset the man who was charged in the shooting death of her son is now free on bond.
Carol Asberry worries her son, 24-year-old LaShon Johnson, will not receive justice because of how he identified himself. She says Johnson was gay, and dressed as a woman.
Johnson was killed in a West Gordon Avenue home on December 6th.
A magistrate judge dismissed voluntary and involuntary manslaughter charges against 25-year-old Kuyaunnis James on Wednesday, waiting for a grand jury to decide on charges.
"We may be walking down the street. In a store we may see him. My kids may see him," said Asberry. "And that's kind of hard to deal with."
"The state intends to present the matter to the Grand Jury for its full review, as would have been the process in any event," said Dougherty D. A. Greg Edwards.
James is still charged with pandering.
