ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The cold weather forced students to stay inside for recess and PE class Thursday. Second graders at Lake Park Elementary in Albany didn't seem to mind being inside.
School officials say they monitor the weather when it's too cold, or too hot, to make sure children are safe.
"Most of our PE coaches and those kinds of people are also our health instructors so they know the value of keeping kids healthy and keeping them in school. So they do work to accommodate a program inside for physical education activities," said R. D. Harter of DCSS.
The Lake Park Elementary principal says they communicate with all their teachers to make sure they're aware of extreme weather situations.
