LAKE PARK, GA (WALB) - Lowndes County Firefighters had to brave the cold Thursday morning for a fire at a business in Lake Park.
Around 11:00 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire alarm KC's Junk In The Trunk thrift store. When they got there, the building was filled with smoke. The automatic sprinkler system inside put out the fire and no major damage was caused.
Lowndes County Fire Chief Richard Guyton said they're always prepared for the cold temperatures during the Winter. "It's just one of those things we have to deal with. We prepare, wear warmer clothing in the winter months just like anyone else does," said Guyton
No one was hurt in the fire and no customers were inside at the time.
Chief Guyton would only say Thursday that the fire started in the rear of the store. The cause was under investigation Wednesday evening.
