Commissioner follows in father's footsteps

A new Terrell County commissioner is following in his father's footsteps.

Wednesday was Cris Webb's first meeting as the District 3 commissioner, replacing Larry Faust. Webb is an insurance agent and had no intention of running for office until he was asked to run by voters.

His father, James Webb, served four years on the commission 35 years ago. "My father told me a long time ago, he said, whatever you do, don't become a county commissioner. Because he was a commissioner from 76 to 1980. Because it's a hard job, but somebody needs to step up to the plate and do the job," said Webb.

Webb says one of his goals is to get fire protection to outlying areas of the county.
