GBI probes Moultrie shooting

MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - Moultrie Investigators say neither victim lives at the home on 3rd Avenue Southwest where the shooting happened.

GBI agents were on scene for about seven hours Wednesday morning.

They say the scene was littered with shell casings, some not even related to this shooting.

The murder in a Southwest Moultrie neighborhood is just another violent crime in an area investigators say has been riddled with them recently.

A neighbor called 911 last night just before 11:00. "She had heard some shots fired and a injured female had run to that neighbors house," said Special Agent in Charge Steve Turner.

26-year-old Alexia Davis is listed as stable at an area hospital, although Turner would not say where.

Authorities found another victim at this house at 620 3rd Avenue Southwest who wasn't as fortunate.

"And then found laying on the floor in the doorway this morning was Terrell Hawkins," said Turner.

The 36-year-old was dead at the scene, and police still haven't said if he was targeted or whether the shooting was random.

"That'll kind of go back to the motive and when we can figure all that out we can kind of piece it together and find out why it happened and put it together exactly who did it," said Turner.

Turner says neither victim lives at this house, but no one answered the door when I knocked.

Neighbors would not speak about the incident, something GBI agents hope will change.

"At this point if anyone has any information on this, please contact the Moultrie police department and we can follow up on it," said Turner.

Moultrie Police are investigating another shooting from Monday night a short distance away at 4th avenue and 9th street Southwest, but say the two aren't related.

The shooting took place inside the house. Turner says he and other investigators are working to find out why the two victims were there.
