ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany's Salvation Army shelter was full Tuesday night, and they expect another full house tonight.
Major Kelly English wants people who need shelter and have nowhere to go to know they can come to the shelter.
English says through the support of the community, they've been able to give out lots of hats to folks who need them. They are also looking for scarves and gloves. He says sometimes people don't want to ask for help, but he says when it gets this cold it can be lift threatening.
"The last thing we want to see is someone hurt because they didn't avail themselves to the emergency shelter."
He says they also have a daytime shelter where people can wash their clothes and drink coffee. They've got extra cots available tonight to handle the expected crowd.
