DAWSON, GA (WALB) - Wednesday, commissioners approved a 2% salary increase for county employees.
Commission Chairman Wilbur Gamble says every year they look at whether they can afford an increase, and have been able to cut expenses to make room in the budget.
"Everybody has the problem of keeping good employees. And if you fail to have an increase, in two or three years you'll be out of bound with other businesses and your good employers will find another job."
This year's budget is about $7.6 million, compared to last year's $8.01 million.
