Albany murder suspect makes first court appearance

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A woman accused of killing a Navy veteran was in court for her first appearance Wednesday morning.

31-year-old Ashley Stroble is charged with aggravated assault and murder of 37-year-old Jimmie Fennell.  She was sobbing as the judge read her charges: Murder and aggravated assault.

It was Tuesday morning on the 300 block of West Tift Ave. where officers responded to the home in reference to an aggravated assault.
That's where police found the body of Fennell with his throat slit. Officials believe Stroble, who is also known as Ashley Riley, is responsible.

From what residents tell us, the home Fennell was staying in was meant to be a boarding house but that is under investigation due to lack of a business license.

Witnesses who lived and worked at the home say the area where Fennell was found was a gruesome scene and are shocked to learn of his death.

Stroble has been in jail previously for multiple non-violent charges since 2007 from financial card fraud to probation violation.
