VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Valdosta shelters were preparing Tuesday to open their doors overnight to help people stay warm as frigid temperatures move into South Georgia.
Grace Fellowship Church on West Hill Avenue, the Salvation Army on Virginia Avenue, and New Horizons Shelter on Charlton Street will be open during overnight hours until the weather warms up.
"They will be open beyond normal hours, or, certainly, at night as long as the temperatures are below 41 degrees," said Lowndes County Public Information Officer Paige Dukes.
Both the Salvation Army and Grace Fellowship Church will open at 6 p.m.
The New Horizons Shelter will be open during the day as well as at night.
