Salvation Army needs hats for homeless

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Salvation Army of Albany is getting ready for the freezing weather and says they can use your help to keep people warm.

They're expecting to be at capacity the next few nights as the temperatures drop. This winter season, they've been very busy and say they're running low on some cold weather clothing to pass out to the homeless.

"Everyone needs a hat. We just don't have very many of them to give away and gloves, which are very practical, you know, scarves and those types of items," said Major Kelly English, Salvation Army of Albany.

The Salvation Army in Albany has 48 beds, but they have emergency cots for colder nights. To find out how you can donate those items or food, call (229)435-1428 or visit their building at 304 W. Second Avenue.
