TIFT CO., GA (WALB) - Grant money helps crack down on deadbeat parents in Dougherty County.
On Monday, county commissioners gave the go ahead to apply for a $70,000 grant to pay for a lawyer for the child support recovery unit.
District Attorney Greg Edwards says the team has been very effective, and they apply for the grant every year.
"Every parent is responsible for either the custody or support of their children, and our efforts and this unit are to try to make sure every child gets the most that is available to them," says District Attorney Greg Edwards.
Edwards say they work thousands of child support cases each year.
