Stolen guns found in Crisp traffic stop

CORDELE, GA (WALB) - Two stolen guns were confiscated by the Crisp Co. Sheriff's Office after a traffic stop.

Deputy Kenny Purvis stopped 22 year old Robert Wade of Covington for going 86 mph on I-75.

After talking with him, something seemed off, so he searched the car, and found the rifle and handgun in the trunk of the Chrysler Sebring. They were both stolen from a gun shop in Fort Myers, Florida.

"When I popped the trunk, looked under the mat where the spare tire would go; I located the first gun, the rifle down there and then cleared it and located the handgun. It's important to go the extra mile when stuff doesn't seem right," said Deputy Kenny Purvis with the Crisp County Sheriff's Office.

Passengers 26 year old Brandon Faust of Fort Myers, and 19 year old Dondre Ramey of Covington were also arrested. They are both charged with altering a serial number on the handgun, and bringing stolen property into the state.

Neither person has admitted to stealing them.
