A 7 pound, 6 ounce baby girl was the first baby to be born at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta in 2015.
Zoey Rawls was born at 8:09 a.m. Thursday.
The baby's mother, Keira Brown, said she wasn't trying to have the baby on New Year's Day, but she was happy that it happened and that there weren't any complications.
"I'm very excited to have a baby that was born the first of the year. The first baby, New Year's baby. I'm excited about it," said Brown.
This is Brown's fifth child. She now has three girls and two boys.
As of 4 p.m. Thursday, four babies had been born at SGMC.
