Man surrenders to SWAT Team after domestic abuse call

CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

Police say a man who barricaded himself inside his home after a domestic situation is now in custody.

Cordele Police Chief Bobby Hooper said officers were called to 1017 29th Ave. for a domestic abuse situation.

According to a report, family members of 48-year-old Reginald Rainey met with responding officers and said he was threatening his wife, daughter, and stepson with a gun.

Rainey denied the allegations, and initially refused to come out of the home.

He later surrendered after talking with negotiators from the Mid South Special Response SWAT Team.

Officials said he will be charged with aggravated assault.
