Copper thieves strike again in Americus

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Copper thieves strike again in Americus; this time at the Public Works Department. Crooks stole 5-hundred feet of copper tubing out of a utility shed sometime this morning.

They cut a hole in a and got away with almost $2,000 worth of copper. The public works director remains confident police will catch the criminals.

"Well, it's just what's happening these days. A lot of it is going on. We've turned it over to the police department and we're relying on them. They do a good job," said Public Works Director Sammie Deason.

The copper thieves have hit more than 10 Americus businesses in the last two months.
