Some Valdosta businesses near I-75 were noticing an increase in business Wednesday with many people traveling to bowl games in Florida.

Clayton Creel, manager at Flash Foods just off of exit 18, said business usually picks up around New Year's because of all of the holiday travel, including people heading to bowl games.

He said Tuesday the gas station was extremely busy, with cars backed up at the pump waiting to get gas. "With all the holidays, we have been extra busy. We're stacked 3, 4 deep at the pump," Creel explained. "Just a massive increase, actually, because the holiday traffic and bowl traffic."

Creel added that the lower gas prices have also contributed to the increased business.

Managers at some restaurants just off of exit 18 also said Wednesday that they had noticed an increase in business over the past several days.
