ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Drivers are hopeful gas prices will remain low as the new year approaches.
Some drivers were filling up in Albany for $1.84 a gallon, which is much lower than the national average of $2.28 and the state average of $2.26.
Robert Breedlove says with these lower prices, he's able to fill his truck all the way up, instead of just halfway.
"The gas prices have been going up and down drastically in the last five to ten years. I remember when I was a kid, gauges would be a dollar a gallon. So when it dropped it didn't surprise me one bit. I just hope hopefully they'll stay the same," Breedlove said.
The national average for a gallon of gas a year ago was 3 dollars and 30 cents.
Experts expect the gas prices to level off in 2015.
