ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Firefighters are doing some extra training to work with alternative fuels, including natural gas.
Recently they took a tour of Clean Energy Fuels on Moultrie Road.
Training officers say its important firefighters are prepared if they encounter vehicles that are running or carrying alternative fuels like natural gas, and any safety features that could be harmful.
"You think about an air bag. An air bag may save your life in a vehicle in a crash, but as a first responder, if your trying to work in a vehicle and an air bag goes off that's a potential danger to you," said raining officer Jason Ribolla.
He says they do continuing education classes year round, including learning on how to work with hazardous materials.
