Beaver dam burst adds to Lee Co. road woes

LEE CO., GA (WALB) - Lee County public works crews are asking residents to be patient as they work to repair roads from the heavy rains.

A beaver dam broke loose during the heavy rain Monday, causing some minor flooding on New York Road, near Philema Road North. Crews are hoping to make repairs as soon as possible.

"The water rushed over the road there and it just kind of blew out our road on the side. And we're just waiting for this weather to break. We just want the people to be aware that things like this is happening in a lot of areas of the county and stuff like this where water is just rushing over the road and we don't want nobody to get hurt," said Lee Co. Public Works Director Mike Sistrunk.

Childers Road is closed after being washed out from all of high amounts of rain.
