ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Georgia State patrol is asking drivers to be safe this New Years' holiday. Fourteen people were killed statewide over the Christmas holiday travel period.
Troopers say alcohol-related accidents have increased across the state. Even more drivers will be on the roads this year with lower gas prices, so you're asked to heed law enforcement's warning.
"10, 12 dollar case of beer turns into a ten thousand dollar ticket so it's not worth it. Plus, you could be killed or you could kill somebody else," said Trooper Daniel Joiner.
More troopers will be out on the roads stopping speeders, seat belt violators, and distracted drivers this week.
