On Sunday at approximately 11:55 AM, the body of Debra Denise Thigpen, 29, of 404 West Calhoun Street, Thomasville, was found behind the residence at 1021 North Stevens Street, Thomasville.
Officers with Thomasville Police Department responded and then requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate the suspicious death.
Agents with the GBI and the Thomasville Police Department arrested Sidney Jerome McKinney, Jr., 34, of 415 Myrtle Drive, and charged him with Felony Murder. McKinney was arrested at the Thomasville Police Department at approximately 10:30 p.m.
Investigators believe that there was an altercation between Thigpen and McKinney that caused her death, although no cause of death is being released at this time.
McKinney and Thigpen have had a relationship in the past and there have been other accusations of violence in past altercations.
Thigpen's body has been transported for autopsy at the GBI's Crime Lab in Macon.
