GSP has confirmed that two people have been hospitalized after being involved in a wreck on highway 91 near Newton.
It happened around 1:20 Monday morning in front of Ichauway Plantation. Trooper David Fretwell says a pick up truck was heading north on 91 and veered into a semi-truck traveling south head on.
The driver of the pick up, Baker county resident Edward Moore, was rushed to Phoebe Putney hospital for serious injuries. The driver of the semi was sent to a hospital in Miller for minor injuries.
Miller and Baker County Sheriff's Office, EMS, Fire Rescue, and Newton Police were a;also called to the scene.
GSP says they believe alcohol to be a factor, they have charges pending against Moore which includes: failure to maintain lane, DUI and open container.
Officials will continue their investigation throughout the morning.
