Ochlocknee River under flood warning

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The flood warning continues for the Ochlocknee River near US 84, affecting Grady and Thomas counties, until further notice, or until the warning is canceled.

At 11:30 am, Thursday the stage was 20.0 feet; five feet above flood stage. Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.

The river will continue rising to near 20.6 feet by Thursday evening then begin falling. At 20.0 feet, some houses and trailers in the lowest areas of Lake Riverside and Steward Avenue will have water at their doors. Road access will be completely cut off.

Anyone along the river should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect life and property. Do not drive cars through flooded areas. If you see flood waters, remember to turn around and do not drown.
