The holiday travel period is underway.
Triple-A expects a record 98.6-million Americans to travel at least 50-miles from home between tonight and the Sunday after New Year's.
The rain is making travel more difficult, but it's not keeping many people off the roads.
Heather Prater and her fiance, Cee Chavez, drove to Albany from Edison tonight to run some errands.
They said the rain makes them more cautious on the roads.
"Actually traffic wasn't as bad as I thought it was originally going to be. I told him oh my gosh were going to spend an hour in Walmart and were going to spend an hour getting out and were going to catch every red light. It wasn't that bad," said Heather Prater, traveler.
The couple plans to stay home for Christmas but will drive to Nashville, Tennessee to visit family the day after Christmas.
