Tamiflu is in short supply

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Some areas of the country are seeing a shortage of Tamiflu as cases of the flu spike.

Pharmacists at U Save It in Albany say they still have Tamiflu, but they have seen a big increase in prescriptions for the antiviral medication used to treat flu symptoms.

"The over the counter medications will help treat the symptoms but won't make the flu shorter or less severe. Tamiflu will shorten the duration and make it less severe," said Ed Dozier, U Save It Pharmacist.

Dozier said U-Save-It is seeing close to two dozen new flu patients coming in for prescription help daily.
