LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) - The National Weather service in Tallahassee reported a tornado touched down for just a few minutes near the Barrett Coody Road and Seckinger Road intersection in Clyatteville around 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
Around 3 p.m., a large tree could be seen uprooted in the front yard of a home near the intersection. The tree knocked down some power lines in the area as well.
The homeowner just down the road was home at the time and had shingles and a roof vent ripped off his roof. "[I] Awoke to an extremely loud noise. Wind was blowin' real hard. Wife was hollerin' tryin' to get the dogs inside," said homeowner Kevin Zipperer. "I looked out in the yard and stuff was flyin' everywhere. The trampoline, shingles flyin' off the house."
No major damage had been reported as of 5 p.m. Tuesday. The road was also covered with small branches an pieces of wood around 3 p.m.
