NORMAN PARK, GA (WALB) - Moultrie Police delivered a pleasant surprise to a Norman Park couple who lost their home and dog in a fire on Halloween night.
They pulled up with gifts for the family who otherwise might not have a Christmas.
Adam Lawson helps his son open an early Christmas present.
It's a great surprise for the family who thought they wouldn't have that much this year.
On Halloween they lost everything in a house fire.
Lawson says he wasn't sure if they were going to be able to give their kids Christmas, but is glad things worked out.
"I never thought it would of come through the way it did with the Moultrie Police Department reaching out in their hearts, their pockets, and their minds. Just thinking of what these boys want. They got them everything they want and needed plus clothes they didn't have," says Adam Lawson.
Corporal Rocky Hancock says giving back is the best part of their job.
And they're glad the two boys, Preston and Axle, will have some toys and clothes this holiday season.
"It brought us a lot of joy and it just warms our heart that we are able to provide something for these young children and have a blessed Christmas, " says Corporal Rocky Hancock.
And the family will never forget the wonderful support they received.
"Everybody who has called and texted and messaged. Just to check or ask," says Lawson.
