The Terrell County Sheriff is making sure children in need have something to eat during this holiday season.

People dropped off canned goods and other non-perishable food items at the Terrell County Courthouse Annex today for the fill "Sheriff Bowens Hummer to feed little tummies." The Sheriff's office partnered with Family Connection to put on the food drive. Organizers also served hotdogs to the community.

"They came up with the idea that school is out and kids will be out and want to make sure that they have food throughout the summer,” said Sandra Walker, Terrell County Jail Administrator. “So we're going to try to do this twice a year, May and December of each year."

The Sheriff will deliver the donations to the Terrell County Food Bank on December 29th. If you missed today's drive, you can still drop off donations at the Terrell County Sheriff's Office.
