Several law enforcement agencies in Albany and Dougherty County took kids shopping for Christmas.
Albany and Dougherty County Police, Albany State University's Police, and the Dougherty County Sheriff's office participated in the 25th annual Fraternal Order of Police's "Shop with a Cop" at the K-Mart on Dawson Road. Officers took more than 100 kids shopping for Christmas. Each family receives a certain amount of money depending on the number of children they have.
"Fraternal Order of Police does this program all over the country and it's one of the most rewarding programs to have a small child come up to you and hug your neck and say thank you Mr. Police Officer for your help in making my Christmas better," said Richard Heim, FOP State Trustee Albany Lodge #2.
The Fraternal Order of Police hosts fundraisers throughout the year to put on the event.
