Students in Colquitt County have put Engineering, Technology and the Arts into a popular Christmas play.

Fifth graders at J.M. Odom Elementary School performed "A Christmas Carol" the musical today. It's part of the S.T.E.A.M initiative the school is working towards becoming certified. Students were in charge of putting together the props, sound system, lighting, and acting for the performance.

"We know the Arts are really important in schools and it really helps the students and kids often times, especially with our population a lot of our students are bilingual, learning English, music is something they can connect too," said Trish Lirio, J.M. Odom Principal.

Valdosta State's music department assisted students with the musical and teachers made their costumes.
