Officers, Santa deliver gifts to Phoebe pediatric patients

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Santa Claus made a special visit to kids at a South Georgia hospital Friday, and he brought a lot of friendly police officers with him.

Santa said "Merry Christmas, young lady!  I heard there is a real good girl in here. How you doing?"

Albany Police and District Attorney office officials escorted Santa for a special gift run to ten patients in the pediatrics ward at Phobe Putney Memorial Hospital this morning.

The gifts were donated by Boy Scouts Pack 64 from First United Methodist Church.

"Instead of a gift exchange, they wanted to bring gifts and donate them to the sick children at Phoebe Hospital," said Assistant District Attorney Mike Tabarrok..  "The Albany Police Department volunteered to help us deliver these gifts and provide police escort for Santa."

Those Boy Scouts donated a couple of dozen toys, so the extras were left at the hospital for children that are  hospitalized in the next week.
