The Moultrie Fire Department receives donations that could save lives.

Home Depot donated 100 smoke alarms to the fire department. The Moultrie store got the detectors for selling so many safety products during fire prevention week in October. The Fire department will install the smoke alarms for residents who need them.

"We appreciate Home Depot being involved in community safety and thinking of the fire department and donating these smoke alarms to us and making it available for the safety of the citizens of Moultrie,” said Lavon Cooper, Fire Marshal with the Moultrie Fire Department.

The fire department installs smoke detectors at no charge.

They've installed more than 7,000 in Moultrie since 2002. You can have a smoke alarm installed by calling the Moultrie Fire Department at 985-7557.
