PT and Impact Gym to merge

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany's Impact Sports and Fitness center will be shutting its doors permanently this weekend and merge its services with PT gym.

Currently, Impact Sports and Fitness operates out of two areas, Albany and Cordele. The Cordele location will continue to be open. The move will only affect members who attend the Albany location.

Impact owner Jaime Fernandez and PT Gym owner Perry Buchanan decided to merge services when Impact chose to end their operation off of Westover.

Gym members will have their memberships honored at PT and classes offered at Impact will continue to take place at the new location.

Buchanan said the alliance will help expand not only memberships but give people a variety of courses to participate in.

"We both have creditable fitness credentials. He has strengths more in sports performance conditioning and group programming, where more of my strength is individual and personal fitness training," Buchanan said. "So, I think together it will be a unique fit but it will be a better blend all the way around."

Buchanan said so far, Impact members that have already made the transition have had positive reactions. He said he looks forward to the full switch.

Saturday, December 20th is the last day Impact will be open in Albany.

PT Gym is located at 1420 Dawson Rd.
