Tift Park to receive a facelift

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A part of Albany's oldest park is getting a facelift.

Volunteers are now repairing the gazebo in historic Tift Park.

Lowe's is working with The Friends of Tift Park to replace rotting wood and fix the deck.

The project will take a few days.

Workers said they want to help preserve a piece of history.

"Well is a blessing, I've been in Albany for 45 years now and seeing Albany grow over the number of years. We like to see stuff that's been here for awhile refurbish and redone for the historic part of it," said Steve Woods, Lowe's Assistant Manager.

The staff from Lowe's will help pressure wash and paint the gazebo and clean the roof.

The Albany store is doing the work for free through the Lowe's Hero Program.
