McRae, GA (WALB) - Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson reports that as a result of a joint operation targeting individuals involved in the introduction of contraband into the prison, an arrest was made of 56 year old Anna Marie McDonald.

McDonald is charged with bringing in prohibited items to Inmates and Crossing Guard Lines with drugs and Intoxicants. Officers seized two 16 oz. water bottles containing suspected Tequila, approximately 400 vacuum sealed cigarettes, and thirty 10mg Amlodipine tablets.

Sheriff Steverson stated that Investigators and staff of the McRae CCA Prison, along with Deputies of the Telfair County Sheriff's Office routinely join forces in our efforts to keep the facility and the community safe.

"There will always be those individuals who will risk their freedom, and everyone's safety, for their own financial gain," said Steverson. "Although the vast majority of officers and staff working in our local prison systems are honest, hardworking individuals of the highest level of integrity, they must still remain vigilant in weeding out any who might succumb to corruption."

The Sheriff would like to commend the officers and staff of McRae CCA for their demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for inmates and staff, and vowed to continue the productive partnership between the two agencies as upcoming operations are planned.
