THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - The Thomasville Police Department is stepping up its efforts to cut down on impaired driving this holiday season.
They're participating in the Governor's Office of Highway Safety's annual Zero Tolerance Campaign.
Last year officers arrested 35 impaired drivers in Thomasville between Thanksgiving and New Year's day.
Officers warn drinkers to have a designated driver or expect to get pulled over.
"We use aggressive concentration of patrols, field sobriety checkpoints to combat and educate the public about the dangers of drinking and driving," Thomasville Police Major Shane Harris.
Major Harris also wants drivers to remember to get plenty of sleep before taking long holiday road trips.
