ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A warning about email and telephone scams from Dougherty County Police.
The DCP says they used to just see scams mainly during the holiday season, but advances in technology has allowed criminals to "recycle" scams year round.
Captain Tom Jackson says they get monthly calls about scams through the internet and telephone.
He advises folks never to give out personal information..
"Look up the official numbers for these companies and call that official number. Don't verify any of your personal information over the phone unless you are 100 percent sure of who you are talking to," says Captain Tom Jackson.
He says government entities and companies where you've placed orders would already have your personal information on file, and would not ask for it over the phone.
