MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) - The Colquitt County Packers have had a great deal of success over the past 6 seasons.
They have made multiple semifinals and even made two state title games.
But in each of those seasons, the Packers left unfinished business.
Unfinished business was the Colquitt County Packers motto for the 2014 season.
And that tag line helped move price tags off team merchandise in Moultrie stores.
"I'm sort of in charge of the Packer wagon," Steven Lazarus, owner of Lazarus of Moultrie, said. "We sell the clothes and the T-shirts that have the packer gear on them."
And that gear sold especially well this season, thanks to the Packers going undefeated and hosting all of their playoff games before the title game.
"That filled up the hotels," Moultrie Chamber of Commerce President, Darrell Moore said. "People buy gas here, people by food here. And that certainly helps out. We've got a lot of small businesses that merchandise Packer merchandise. Your t-shirts, your helmets your gifts, logos, sign, everything else. So, they're certainly benefiting from the success of the team."
One business owner said the extended run increased what is usually a slow time of year.
"Probably helped out about ten percent. Would be my guess. That's a big amount when you start talking about hte Christmas season."
And with the money made, some businesses are planning to reinvest in the team, with talks of a parade in the works.
Now, the Packers finished business is best or business.
