President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalyn celebrated Christmas early with kids at their Youth Center in Plains.
It's the 2nd year for the Boys and Girls Club Christmas Celebration. It was organized by Shirley Reese who is the Chair for the Americus-Sumter Boys and Girls Club and the Chief Volunteer Officer Elect.
President Carter and his wife took pictures with the kids. The Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors used their own funds to purchase more than 100 gifts for the students.
"We like to show our appreciation for them allowing us to serve them in this community," said Lori Gadson, Chief Professional Officer.
"Christmas is a wonderful season to think about Boys and Girls not only for the Christmas season, but what they mean to all of us for the rest of the year," said President Jimmy Carter.
There was also a performance by the Sumter County Middle School Cheerleaders. The Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter Family and Youth Development Center was built in Plains ten years ago.
