Hundreds of Albany State students celebrated an important milestone today.
More than 300 students received their bachelor and graduate degrees during the ASU Fall Commencement ceremony. Dr. David Satcher, who was the 16th United States Surgeon General, was the Commencement speaker. He encouraged students to maintain a healthy lifestyle through his "Surgeon General Prescription."
"The value of black life, not just from the stand point of shootings of unarmed men, but about our lifestyles and the fact that obesity, diabetes and heart disease, and cancer are a major threat to our lives and future," said Dr. David Satcher, ASU Commencement Speaker.
Satcher is also the director of the "The Satcher Health Leadership Institute" with the Morehouse School of Medicine. This is the second time Satcher has been the guest speaker at an ASU Commencement service.
