ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany Family is up for a national award for their beekeeping efforts.
The Simmons is a family of beekeepers and they're finalists in the Good Food Awards in San Francisco.
They submitted honey from several hives they own in Dougherty and Terrell Counties.
"It was just a way to recognize the hard work our family has worked to be able to provide a quality product without using chemicals or pesticides inside the hives," said Kent Simmons.
"I really enjoy being around the bees but I also really enjoy learning about how the hives works, they're so complex," said Emily Simmons.
Their honey is the only one from south Georgia that is up for an award.
The Simmons will fly to San Francisco in January to find out if they've won.
