Driver that crashed into Valdosta McDonald's released from hospital

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The driver who crashed into a Valdosta McDonald's Thursday was out of the hospital as of Friday afternoon.

45 year-old Michael Pannell slammed into the McDonald's on South Patterson Street just after 10 a.m. Thursday morning. At the scene Thursday morning, police said Pannell suffered a medical issue and lost consciousness as he was traveling down Madison Highway.

As of 3 p.m. Friday, police still did not know what the medical issue was that caused Pannell to lose consciousness.

The restaurant remained closed Friday and police continued to investigate.

Pannell was not seriously injured as a result of the crash, nor was anyone inside the restaurant.
