ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Those involved feel it's a huge step forward for those who live in Albany area, they hope this will help stimulate Dougherty County.
Store manager Duane Staggers says they want to give back to Albany and that starts with creating new jobs. he says about 100 new positions have been generated and many of those jobs were filled by college students.
They are currently neighboring Darton College, Staggers says this is not only convenient for them but for everyone else who shops in the area. He says shoppers can get what they need in shorter time because there is less to navigate through.
"We would like to spend time learning our customers, making sure we know who they are, know them by name. We wanna be just a next door neighbor, neighborhood market, that's what we are," Staggers said.
The store will carry produce, grocery, a pharmacy and a fuel station. Members of management felt excited and expect a huge turnout Wednesday morning.
"We'll be supporting Dougherty County as much as we can and of course we want to take care of all the city of Albany. So, give us a try," Staggers continued. "If they see something they like they can tell us and if we are not doing something we need to we'd be glad to take any criticisms or suggestions as well."
They will be opening their doors at 7:30 A.M. and will be fully operational 24/7.
