ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital honors cancer patients at an annual event Monday.
The 31st annual Lights of Love Christmas tree was lit up at an annual ceremony tonight at Phoebe's Cancer Center.
The Junior Woman's Club and the Phoebe Foundation team up each year to raise money for the cancer center.
Donors give money to honor cancer survivors or remember those lost to the disease.
"They've made memorials to the lights of love campaign. Each light on the tree symbolizes someone who had cancer or is fighting cancer now," Mandy Flynn.
Breast cancer survivor Jack Morrell flipped the switch to light the tree.
Money raised will help buy a 3-dimensional mammography unit for Phoebe's cancer center.
