Dougherty County School Board members Monday night approved a deal with U.S. Bank to finance the purchase of thousands of tablet computers.
The lease agreement is for 13 million dollars over 5 years.
It will provide a tablet for each student in the school system.
"This is the way kids learn today through technology. All of our new books coming in are going to be digital and so they'll have to have some sort of technology in their hands and this is the first step to do that," Carol Tharin, Board Chairperson.
The first students to get the tablets will start using them in January.
