Family friends want big turnout for injured teen's vigil, fundraiser

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Friends and family of a Baconton teenager injured in a crash are coming together this week to help with medical expenses.

14-year-old Hannah Croker's family and friends say the teenager continues to make great strides in her recovery. She remains at an Atlanta Hospital two weeks after the car she was in crashed into a tree in Worth County. She was left with a serious spinal injury.

Francies Miles, a close friend of the family, visited Hannah over the weekend and says the teen is staying positive. "Somebody was holding the phone for her but she was taking selfies, sticking out her tongue, normal 14-year-old stuff."

As Hannah and her family stay at the hospital, the medical expenses are growing. Her parents are taking a break from work to stay by her side. They're also traveling and taking care of her 3 siblings, two of whom were injured in the same crash.

"They need to pay their bills, so that she has a home to come home to," said Miles.

So, Francies and Candy Williams are asking for people to help by coming to a Candle light vigil and Spaghetti Bake Sale this Friday night from 6 to 8 at Baconton Baptist Church, at 171 Durham St SW in Baconton. They're asking for pound cake for the dinner and 7 dollar donations or more for entry.

"It would mean the world to the family," added Williams. "Because as of right now, They don't know what the future holds for them."

If you can't donate, they're asking you simply come out to join them in prayer with a candle at the vigil, to get Hannah home as quickly as she can.

"She told her mom she wanted to be home for Christmas," Miles said. "All she's worried about is getting her nieces and nephews gifts."

Hannah has taken comfort in letters and cards she has received. Her family says she asks the nurse daily if anything has arrived in the mail.

Hannah's family says she is expected to be moved to Scottish Rite Hospital within the week.
