Dougherty Co. officials name company behind illegal dump

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Dougherty County officials say they know who illegally dumped concrete blocks, tile, and other materials on county-owned land near Radium Springs Road.

Judy Bowles from keep albany dougherty beautiful said Oakridge Construction dumped the materials after an apparent remodel.

Edith Klein, one of the business owners, will be face a judge on January 9th.

"The judge can fine as much as $1,000, can have them clean up within a one-mile radius, and if they're a repeat offender [they] could serve jail time," said Bowles.

She said the company could have saved a lot of money and trouble if they had dumped the concrete properly.

Approved options would be having the waste taken to a landfill or recycled.

In addition, Oxford construction grinds cement blocks and recycles them for road paving.

The cost for that? Free.
